Asics GT-1000 12 vs GT-2000 12

Differences Between GT-1000 12 and GT-2000 12

So, from the above comparison table, you can clearly see there are some similarities and differences between the GT-1000 12 and the GT-2000 12. Now let me explain those in detail:

Upper Unit

As you can see, the Asics GT-1000 12 is equipped with an engineered mesh material. This upper part is so flexible, light, and, of course, very breathable. Your feet can stay hydrated, and sweat will evaporate soon.

However, at first, you may feel the upper part quite tight and stiff, but after a few running sessions, it will start to loosen.

On the other hand, the GT-2000 12 also has an engineered Jacquard mesh upper, but it looks a little more expensive and elegant than the GT-1000 12. No doubt, it’s also breathable and helps to dry your sweat quickly.

Midsole

The midsole is one of the most important parts of a shoe. It ensures the comfort, support, and proper fit of a shoe. In the GT-1000 12, the midsole is made from FlyteFoam, which is a trademarked midsole of Asics. It’s durable and provides a light feeling.

On the other hand, the GT-2000 12 has a FlyteFoam and FF blast midsole. It’s a bit softer than the midsole of the GT-1000 12. Our team experts found that the GT-2000 12 midsole is a more suitable option for long runs, like running over 10 kilometers.

Stability

There’s a similarity in their medial support system. Both models can reduce the impact of overpronation. By controlling the foot movement and with the Trusstic systems, both the GT-1000 and GT-2000 provide a good amount of stability.

However, the GT-2000 12 seems to be a little less stable than the GT-1000 12 due to its stiffness at the top.

Outsole

Although we noticed a lot of rubber on the outsoles of both the GT-1000 12 and GT-2000 12, there’s still a difference between them. The GT-1000 has an AHAR outsole, while the GT-2000 has an AHAR Plus rubber outsole. In the forefoot, there is a softer blown rubber from this model.

So, what’s the difference between these two outsoles? Well, the AHAR Plus is more firm and durable than the AHAR. Talking about the forefoot, the GT-2000 outsole has AHAR in its forefoot instead of the usual blown rubber.

So, it looks like the GT-2000 outsole is more durable and well-protected than the GT-1000.

Heel and Forefoot Height

You could also see a little difference in their heel height and forefoot height. Heel height has a great impact on your overall comfort and plantar pressure.

In the GT-1000 12, the heel height is 32.5, which is a good heel height for a healthy foot. On the other hand, the GT-2000 12 has a heel height of 36mm, which is a matter of concern.

It is found that, when the heel height is between 35 and 75, plantar pressure increases by 33%. So, it’s a concern, I would say!

Regarding the forefoot height, the GT-2000 has a higher height than the GT-1000. It indicates that the GT-2000 has more underfoot protection and shock absorption, and the GT-1000 has a more grounded feel. It also indicates the GT-1000 is more responsive.

Color and Price

It looks like you are going to have more color options for the GT-2000 12 than the GT-1000 12. It expresses their versatility and uniqueness as well. On the other hand, the GT-1000 is more of a cheaper option than the GT-2000.

Although the GT-1000 is a cheaper one, that doesn’t mean it’s low in quality or performance.

Pros and Cons: Asics GT-1000 12 vs GT-2000 12

The GT-1000 12 and the GT-2000 12 are from two different lineups of Asics, and, naturally, they have some pros and cons. Let’s see what those are:

If you are a casual runner or love to run on the treadmill and are looking for a stable shoe that is also reasonable, the Asics GT-1000 12 is the best one for you. Although it’s a cheaper one, Asics has not overlooked its features and technologies. You will get a rearfoot GEL unit, a Trusstic system, and a DuoMax support system. All of these technologies are available in other expensive Asics shoes as well.

On the other hand, if you are searching for a stable shoe that is suitable for long-distance running, the Asics GT-2000 12 is the right one for you. The most amazing thing about this shoe is its extra forefoot GEL unit, which can absorb more shock. Not only that, the GT-2000 is a more durable option.

So, now you know all the aspects and pros and cons of both shoes. The final decision is yours, which completely depends on your individual needs and preferences. If you ask my opinion, I would love to save my money and go for the cheaper one with the same advanced technologies.
